NPCs have no class until they register — at registration, the clerk assesses the person's existing skills and physical profile and assigns a class based on what fits 3. Once registered, class cannot be changed 4. This is why the card reader at training guilds matters — a Rogue cannot walk into the Ember Guild and learn ink tattoo circuits, because the machine will show their class before any teaching begins
